Zoo Trot Time: 7:30 Cost: R40.00
Come trot in the Johannesburg Zoo. The zoo provides a
great opportunity throughout the year to run or walk in
the peaceful setting. On the second Sunday of each
month, you and your family can join other zoo trotters,
running to beat your own record or walk with family and
friends at your own pace to reduce stress, build
stamina, keep fit or just socialise. The Trot is open to
young and old - some parents even push their babies in
strollers on the walk.
The trot consists of a 5
or 10 km fun run or walk inside the zoo grounds.
Direction markers are placed along the route to guide
you and zoo staff is present to help you stay on route.
The route passes some of the most popular zoo animals
such as the lions, elephants, giraffe, monkeys and one
of most resilient animals: Phila, the Black Rhino.
Registration opens at 7h00, the Trot begins at 7h30
and ends at 10h00. The special reduced entry fee is R 40
each and children under the age of three get in free.
For every three consecutive trots completed, you
will receive a special Zoo Trot medal, featuring one of
the zoo animals. After the walk/run, Zoo trotters can
enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at the zoo's Cafe Fino or
bring picnic baskets and enjoy the rest of the day at
the Johannesburg Zoo.
