The Johannesburg Zoo received a major clean-up

The Johannesburg Zoo closed on the 5 &6 August 2013 for a massive clean-up and maintenance. The “Zoo Mega Blitz Operation” formed part of the preparation for the milestone celebration to take place next year when the Zoo will be 110 years old!

The Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo staff geared up in support of this initiative. More than 600 JCPZ staff members including the Managing Director, Executives and the team took part in the project which included grass cutting, sweeping and blowing of leaves, pruning trees, beautification, painting, plumbing and other general maintenance jobs.

It was fascinating to see everyone hard at work to accomplish one goal. After two days, the Johannesburg Zoo looked spruced up, with lavish gardens, clean streets, and beautiful lawns.

The Zoo strives to be a destination of choice and has grown to become one of the best zoos in the world.
