Johannesburg Zoo’s celebrates Women’s Day with women and children from welfare and community centres around the city.

On August 9th the Johannesburg Zoo will celebrate Women’s Day by bringing approximately 1000 women and children from welfare centres and community church groups to the zoo. The event will begin at 10am at the Bandstand and see live performances from well known artists take part in the day.

The event is part of the Johannesburg Zoo’s 67 Day Community Campaign which launched on Mandela Day and aims to bring 10 000 people from the poorest areas for a day of inspiration at Johannesburg Zoo. The campaign runs over a period of three months and is part of the 90 day roll out plan for City of Joburg entities. The campaign has already seen over 4000 people visit the zoo since the launch on the 18th of July.

In addition to Women’s Day the zoo will host the following events:
• Children’s day on the 14th of September
• Sleepover for 250 children from informal settlements on the 23rd September
• Heritage day on September 24th.
