05 February 2004 Know your Zoo! - Animal of the Month Initiative Johannesburg Zoo is embarking on showcasing its animals to the public. The initiative came as a result of enquiries received from schools, Zoo visitors and the general public regarding animal information. We are now introducing the Animal of the Month initiative.  The Animal of the Month features the picture of an animal of choice for a particular month. And it also features it’s interesting facts regarding its origin, breeding habits, habitat, food etc.  As February is the month of love (Valentines Day), Sandrock and her female companion were chosen as our animals of the month.
