Sasol Bird Fair at the Johannesburg Zoo
Johannesburg, April 2008
The Sasol Birds and Birding Fair, the biggest of its kind yet
staged in Southern Africa, is set to attract birding enthusiasts
from all over Gauteng. The annual Sasol Birds and Birding Fair
will take place on the 3-4 May 2008. The Sasol Birding fair is
focused on cultivating bird lovers and enjoyment of nature. The
Fair will form an important component of Sasol Birdlife SA
National Bird Week.
Exhibitions, demonstrations and guided bird walks are centered
on the Bandstand area in the Zoo. There are a variety of
exhibitors on hand to appeal to everyone. Lectures take place in
the Discovery centre according to the schedule below (all
lectures are on a first come, first serve basis). The two-day
Flight for Beginners course is being run at the Education
centre.

The School programme will take place on the 5th May from 9:00 to
12:00. The children – from nursery school to high school level -
will not only be introduced to birds but also to the vital role
the environment plays in sustaining bird- and all other forms of
life. The entrance is R21.00 flat rate to all.
