Grand opening of Discovery Centre at Johannesburg Zoo

Johannesburg, August 21, 2007

Generally, discovery centres are science based, for the first time in Gauteng; the Johannesburg Zoo is opening wildlife conservation Discovery Centre.

Johannesburg Zoo conservation Discovery Centre is dedicated to educating young minds, assisting teachers and increasing public understanding of wildlife conservation. This will be done through exciting, interactive, fun exhibits and educational programs.

Exhibits will be themed in various wildlife elements, when we officially open the centre ‘Body Covering’ is first theme for the centre. People will be able touch, smell different animal body coverings such as lions’, elephants, tigers skins to mention but a few. It will also offer educational workshops, wildlife shows, animals’ demonstrations, a discovery shop, and annual passes.

The official opening will take place on Wednesday; August 22, 2007 at 11 am in the Discovery Centre (old restaurant next to the Band Stand). Everybody is invited.
