As part of the Johannesburg Zoo's commitment to
education, our education department provides a
variety of programmes and tours targeted at schools
ranging from our Zoo School programme to the Zoo to
You programme. The zoo also provides opportunities
for children ranging from 7 to 18 years an
opportunity to join our Honey Badgers and Be Mad
Clubs.

Finding it difficult to keep the kids
entertained during the school holidays? Why not
bring them along to our Holiday Programme which
takes place during Public and Private school breaks.

Zoo School

This programme is included in the school entrance fee of
R24 (Monday - Wednesday) and R28 (Thursday - Friday) per learner and educator with Bus parking at R20.
The Education Department is available from Monday-Friday
during office hours (7h00-16h00). All programmes include
a master copy of a worksheet that could either be sent
to you prior to your visit or during your visit to take
home for modification or copying. Booking for the
programme needs to be made one week in advance.

Zoo to You The Johannesburg Zoo-to-You is an extension of the
Zoo's living classroom concept, which brings you a
variety of live contact animals that includes birds,
reptiles, insects and small mammals. The presentation is
based on a wide variety of topics and includes
conservation, animal defense, and general information on
animals and their homes.Click

Honey Badgers
The Johannesburg
Zoo offers an environmental and educational
programme, the Honey Badger Club, for children
between the age of 7 and 14 years.
The
club focuses on the animal information and
welfare of the Zoo animals. you will have the
chance to learn what being a Zoo-keeper is all
about, not to mention that you will be able to
visit the Zoo every month!

Be Mad
Behavior Enrichment Make A Different is a programme
designed to enrich the lives of our Zoo animals. It is
aimed at 13-19 year olds. The club focuses on the
animal's information and welfare of the Zoo animals. You
will have the chance to learn what being a Zoo-keeper is
all about, not to mention that you will be able to visit
